Virat Kohli is the only Indian athlete to break ₹ 100 crore barrier in revenues for 2017. Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and PV Sindhu are the only other Indian sportspersons to earn more than ₹ 50 crores during the year.
Sachin Tendulkar, even after four years of his retirement, is among the top two sports personalities in Forbes’ list of leading 100 celebs in India. Virat Kohli, off course, is the clear leader of Indian sports market. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has declined to the third position among the sports stars and overall eighth position.
Badminton icons PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal are the only women among the top ten highest earning sports brand icons. The other eight slots are occupied by cricket stars. Golfer Anirban Lahiri, badminton ace Kindambi Srikanth, Indian tennis’ glam girl Sania Mirza and the national football team captain Baichung Bhutia are the only other non-cricketers in the elite table.
Kohli, placed third in the top 100 list behind the two leading Khans from Bollywood – Salman and Shah Rukh, is the best among the sports brand icons in spite of his income has declined about 25% over the previous year to close 2017 at INR 100.72 crore. In the second position among sports personalities – and 5th overall – Tendulkar has made a significant 40% gain over his gross revenues in 2016. Forbes’ has reported his total income for the year as INR 82.5 crores.

Dhoni’s revenue is dipped by nearly 50% to INR 63.77 crore. Dhoni with a gross revenue of INR 122.48 crore was second behind Kohli in the list.
PV Sindhu has made an awe-inspiring 1,670% gains to reach INR 57.25 crore in 2017from the dismal INR 3.42 crore in 2016. The Princess has emerged as the leading female brand icon in the country.
