Aajtak continues to rule the sports segment in Indian television Hindi news genre. For the third consecutive week Aajtak has comfortably occupied the top half of the Broadcast Audience Research Council data chart in the Hindi news sports shows’ top ten list. Sports contributes in a significant manner to the channel ratings to justify it’s No. 1 tag.

The top seven sports in Hindi news genre for week 39 (September 23-29, 2017) belong to Aajtak. The best show for the week “10 Saal Baad Bhee Shaandaar Zaandaar Zindabad” on Sunday, Septemer 24, has registered 610.51 thousand impressions and .42 TVR in the M 22+ ABC market. The next six shows have a TVR between .39 and .29.

Aajtak’s domination appears stronger in the “average across all episodes” data, where eight of the top ten positions are captured by the “sabse tej” channel. News Nation and India TV split the other two positions.

Samip Rajguru- Virender Sehwag combination, which has made news headlines with Sehwag’s sensational revelations and analyses during the week, has kept India TV prominently in the BARC rating charts. The preview show for the fourth India-Australia ODI – Cricket Kee Baat on Wedneday, September 27 – and VIRAT YUDH on the third-match day have figured in the top ten list.

Show Diggajon ka Mahdangal on ABP News completes the Top Ten list for the week. The channel stands to gain further with its latest signing for sports programmes. ABP News has inked a year-long deal with legendary Kapil Dev for pre- and post-match cricket shows during India’s international engagements.

However, there is no clear monopoly in sports programming of the English genre news channels, which consume a very miniscule share of viewership numbers. The No. 1 show on the table, Sports Weekend on Times Now has recorded a TVR of mere .05 and 9.42 thousand impressions. The last four shows on the list have a ZERO TVR and .77 thousand to .61 thousand impressions. Times Now, CNN News, BBC World News, India Today Television, NDTV 24×7 and Wion make it to the list with their shows.
