Adidas is reported to be replacing Puma as the official kit partner of Premier League club Arsenal. The iconic deal is the third highest in the club football ever – only behind Barcelona and Manchester United.
Yet to be announced, the Arsenal kit sponsorship deal with Adidas is grabbing headlines in the British media.
Arsenal, according to the news first reported by Football.London has inked a £ 300 million deal with the German sportswear brand Adidas. The five-year deal is just the double of £ 30 million per annum Gunners have been getting from Puma.
The Arsenal-Puma deal runs through the ongoing 2018 season. Thereafter, Adidas will come on board as the official kit sponsor of the Gunners. As per a report from sports business expert HowieLongShort an agreement between Arsenal and Adidas for a five-year understanding @£60 million has now been reached.
The Nike-Barcelona 10-year deal at £100 million per annum inked earlier this year is the highest ever kit sponsorship deal in club football till date, followed by the Adidas’ £750 million ten-year deal with Manchester United @£75 million per annum.
The agreement would see Arsenal take in £60m annually over the course of a five-year deal, significantly boosting the club’s finances. Should the deal be confirmed, it would see Arsenal and Adidas link up for the first time since 1994, and is expected to be in place in time for the start of the 2019/20 season.
Gunners boss Unai Emery could even use the extra income from the deal in next summer’s transfer market.
