Bengaluru FC clinched a much-needed win over Club Eagles to progress into the group stage of the AFC Cup. They are set to join Group D of the 2021 AFC Cup with fellow ISL club ATK Mohun Bagan, alongside Bashundhara Kings from Bangladesh and Maziya S&RC of Maldives. AFC Cup’s Group D is set to kicks off on August 18 and will see Bengaluru FC square off against ATK Mohun Bagan in their first group stage match.

The ISL outfit rode on Jayesh Rane’s first-half strike to record a 1-0 win at the National Stadium against Eagles on Sunday. Playing under new head coach Marco Pezzaiuoli, the 2 times ISL champions defeated their Maldivian opponents have booked a slot in the Group D of the tournament.

The group stage of the competition is also set to be staged in the Maldives between August 18 and 24 with all four teams set to lock horns with each other between the abovementioned time period. BFC’s group stage opener against ATK Mohun Bagan will also be played at the National Stadium on August 18.
