Hosts Afghanistan will be aiming to keep alive as they take on West Indies in the second one-day International of the three-match series at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Afghanistan, who have adopted the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow as their home ground, were thrashed badly in the series opener on Wednesday as the Caribbeans had romped home in 46.3 overs, replying Afghanistan’s 194 with 197 for three wickets.
Roston Chase and opener Shai Hope were the heroes of the West Indies chase with unbeaten knocks of 94 and 77 respectively.
Afghanistan will be concerned about their present form as the Rashid Khan-led teams record in the past five games against the West Indies still gives a ray of hope. In head to head five games, the Caribbeans have won three and lost two against the Afghans.
The hosts will be looking for the form from the last season when they had comprehensively defeated the West Indians.
