“Today I realized why you always told me to be strong. You knew that one day I would need the strength to bear the loss of yours. I miss you so mom! No matter the distance I know you are always there with me. My guiding star, my mom.. Love you always,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Some truth in life are hard to accept. Your memories will never be forgotten! Rest In Peace Mom,” Punia added.

Punia urged everyone to stay home and stay safe as India is grappling through the second wave of COVID-19.
“Please follow the rules and take precautions. This virus is very dangerous.
Wear mask, maintain social distancing, stay safe and stay strong,” she further stated.
A few weeks ago, Veda Krishnamurthy’s mother and elder sister succumbed to the virus due to COVID-19 complications.
Priya Punia has been named in the India women tour of England. She is part of the one-off Test and ODI series. The India women squad has been asked to assemble in Mumbai and undergo 14-day mandatory quarantine before leaving for England along with the India men’s team on June 2. It remains unclear whether she will now take part in the upcoming tour due to tragic news coupled with quarantine.
Meanwhile, Veda Krishnamurthy has been left out of the India squad.
Among men’s cricketers, Mumbai Indians player Piyush Chawla and Rajasthan Royals pacer Chetan Sakariya have lost their fathers due to COVID-19.
