Airbnb has signed an agreement to become an official supporter of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. The deal is inked on Wednesday.
Airbnb will be listed in the online accommodation marketing services category for the games. The community-driven hospitality firm will work with the local community and the Games Organizing Committee to offer accommodation to travellers visiting Gangwon Province during the games.
At a signing ceremony Uhm Chan-Wang, director of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee, expressed gratitude to Airbnb for participating as an official supporter.
“With the eyes of the world focused on Pyeongchang, our community is stepping up and providing guests with unique and local travel experiences,” said Chris Lehane, Airbnb’s head of global policy and public affairs.
Earlier in 2017, Airbnb had signed an agreement with Gangwon Province to provide lodging and promotional support for the PyeongChang Games. The number of Airbnb accommodations in Gangwon Province has increased by 30 percent since the beginning of 2017. Airbnb hosts have also welcomed more than 70,000 guests to Gangwon Province in the same period.
