More than 320 students, both boys and girls, from 40 schools across the country will compete in the 47th All India Invitation School Regatta at the Rabindra Sarovar Lake from May 5-11.
Giving details about the championship, joint convener Shakeel Ahmed said the event will consist of coxed fours for both boys and girls in senior (class XI and XII) and junior (up to class X) categories.
“The club would also be organising indoor rowing competition for students during the championship. It is very popular abroad and is also catching up fast in the country. Instead of water body, Indoor Rowing is simulated action being done on indoor through argometer,” Shakeel told reporters.
Joint convener of the meet Subhasish Dasgupta said the tournament is only of its kind in the country that made its way into the Limca Book of Records as the biggest rowing event which is recognised by the Rowing Federation of India.
