Anand Mahindra invests in sports firm

Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra has acquired a stake in the Mumbai-based Sports company Bayside Sports.

Mahindra has acquired a 16.7% stake in Bayside Sports, a multi-sports training and sports event management company, in his personal capacity for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in January 2013, Bayside Sports is training over 2,000 cricketers in eight centers across Mumbai. The firm, set up by childhood friends Vishal Gokani and Kyan Bharucha, has also diversified into a training in football, basketball, throwball and kabaddi.

“Anand Mahindra’s investment, through his family office, is a validation of the fact that we are on the right track,” said Kyan.

Bayside Sports is an innovative academy that believes in dedicating a sizable amount of time to the psychological aspects of Sports. The training at the academy does not focus solely on the physical attributes of Sports but also deals with the strengthening of the mind, which leads to a group of highly motivated and confident children and young adults.
