India cricket team’s latest, celebrated fan has been promised match tickets for India’s remaining games in the ICC World Cup 2019.

Amidst an intriguing battle between India and Bangladesh, an octogenarian fan of the Men in Blue, hogged as much attention in the stands at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham as the heroics of Rohit Sharma and Jaspreet Bumrah in the middle.

Skipper Virat Kohli and deputy Rohit themselves took time out to visit and greet the 87-year-old Charulata Patel, the fan who passionately supported Team India. The skipper had also taken to twitter to hail his team’s energetic supporter. The cameras panned on the lady during the live broadcast and broadcasters had her as one of the most important stories in the post-match presentation.

While exuding confidence that India will take home the ICC World Cup Trophy from the Lord’s on July 14, Ms Patel has also vowed to be present in the London stadium for the final.

If the players valued her blessings, industrialist Anand Mahindra finds her to be the team’s lucky charm. The Mahindra Group chairman in a series of tweets, while hailing her enthusiasm and passion for the game, has expressed a desire to see the lucky mascot in India’s remaining matches.

The passionate cricket-loving industrialist has also promised to reimburse the cost of Charulata’s match tickets.

Charulata Patel claims Kohli had also promised her tickets for the remaining games.

India, having already booked a semi-finals berth, play their last league stage match against Sri Lanka on July 6, Saturday.
