Australian Open 2021: Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka win women’s doubles final- The Belgian and Belarus pair of Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka has won the mixed doubles final of the Australian Open 2021. They thrashed Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic in straight sets of 6-2, 6-3.

The duo had previously won the US Open 2019 by defeating Ash Barty and Victoria Azarenka during their first year as partners.

“It’s been a tough couple of weeks and I want to thank everyone who made this tournament possible,” Mertens said after the victory.

“Thanks to my partner and we didn’t have fans for a couple of days and I’m really glad they are back,” she added.

Krejcikova has another chance to win the silverware in the Australian Open. She is partnering with American Rajeev Ram in mixed doubles final.

The second men’s semifinal between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev will be underway today. Eight times champion Novak Djokovic has already entered the final.
