Australian Open 2021: India’s top-ranked Ankita Raina beat Katarina Zavatska to enter final round of qualifiers

Australian Open 2021: Australian Open 2021, India’s top ranked women’s tennis player Ankita Raina stormed into the third and final round of qualifiers in order to continue her pursuit for a main event berth.

In the second round, it was a hard fought battle against the World No. 118, Katarina Zavatska. Ankita won the first set comfortably 6-2 with an impressive first serve percentage, while the second set was dominated by the 20 year old Ukranian who clinched it 6-2. The final set was atighter affair as both the players had their share of service breaks but in the end it was the more experienced Ankita who held on to her nerves and booked her spot in the final qualifying round.

In the round round, Ankita will come across 19 year old serbian, Olga Danilovic who holds the world rank 183 as compared to Ankita’s 180. Olga booked her spot in the final round with a dominating victory over America’s S.Vickery in straight sets 6-4,6-1.
