Bajrang Punia has treaded into a brand endorsement territory ruled by film stars with muscles to flaunt. The World No. 1 wrestler will endorse men’s inner garment brand TT.
Bajrang has been signed by TT Limited as their brand ambassador. In a brand endorsement market dominated by Bollywood stars, Punia will brush shoulder with the likeds of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan as the sole representative from the sports world.
Strength, power and courage have always been the dominating features for men’s inner garment marketing campaigns. The Punia signing marks a first when an innerwear brand will be endorsed by a strongman from real life who has a strong following in Hindi heartland, especially in India beyond the urban market.
The company had signed Punia as it wanted a “real hero” and not a “reel hero”, TT Limited managing director Sanjay K Jain has been reported as saying.
The 2018 Jakarta Asian and Gold Coast Commonwealth Games champion wrestler, Bajrang is among India’s biggest medal hopes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The company, looking at a 30% growth in turnover, is confident that Bajrang will create a connect with its male target consumer with his macho appeal.
