BARC Ratings: IPL Highlights place Star Sports First at top

Cricket content spearheads sports genre ratings

What is the most watched sport in India? Cricket! Then what comes next? It’s repeat of cricket content. This happened to be true in essence for the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) sports genre ratings for Week 21 between May 18 and 24. When there was no significant cricket live content except for the Day One ICC World Cup warm up games’ action, highlight shows of the Indian Premier League 2019 have placed Star Sports First atop the sports genre channels.

Live broadcast of Afghanistan’s surprise win over Pakistan in the World Cup 2019 first warm-up game has been the most-watched sports genre show on Indian television with two IPL highlights shows on Star Sports coming in the next two positions. Preview show of the World Cup 2019 warm up match on Star Sports 1 Hindi too figures in the top five chart.
