Contrary to conventions and expectations, Pro Kabaddi LIVE broadcast remains the most-watched sports genre programme for the week even when India was engaged in three T20 Internationals and a One Day International against the West Indies.

Pro Kabaddi matches LIVE broadcast shattered the notion that nothing sells more than cricket in Indian sports. Strange as it may sound, LIVE cricket featuring Virat Kohli and Team India has garnered only two of the Top 5 sports genre programmes in the Week 32 (August 3-9) Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) television audience ratings. That is the LIVE broadcast with Hindi commentary on DD Sports which broadcast the shared feed from the exclusive rights holder Sony Sports Network.

Star Sports 1 Hindi occupied three of the top five shows’ slots – first, third and fifth – for the PKL LIVE action. In the second and the fourth position for the first and the second T20 Internationals between the West Indies and India respectively.
