BARC Ratings: Remarkable broadcast acceptance for Masters series

The UN Academy Road Safety World Masters series in Mumbai, which was halted abruptly due to the Coronavirus threat, has emerged as a valuable broadcast property for Indian television. The Broadcast Audience Research Council sports genre ratings for week 10 (March 7 to 13) have an encouraging revelation for the series, which featured yesteryear legends like Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Jonty Rhodes and a host of other big names.

Though the tournament was called off only after four matches, two games on DD Sports have figured in the most-watched sports shows of the week which also had the LIVE broadcast of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final between Australia and India. The power of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag’s magical willow and star value of the yesteryear Indian cricket icons has kept the audience hooked to DD Sports, which simulcast the LIVE match feed form Colors Cineplex, every time India took to the field.

Indian Masters’ match against the West Indian and Sri Lanka Masters have figured at the third and the fifth positions with 1,484,000 and 1,320,000 impressions respectively in the top five table.

Elsewhere, it is the Women’s T20 Wold Cup final on Star Sports Network.
