Pro Kabaddi signed off in the leader’s position for the most watched sports genre programmes on Indian television while Sony Sports network dominated the sports channels list on the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India television ratings for the week between January 5 and 11. While Sony Sports Cluster will be disappointed for the sharp fall in gross impression on account of the washed out Sydney Test, Mashal Sports will be pleased with the overall audience response for kabaddi.
The kabaddi final has attracted over 30% impressions as the most watched programme for the week, over the previous week’s best-performing match on Star Sports First.
The kabaddi tie between Mumbai and Bengal has registered record 4,006,000 impressions on Star Sports First as the most watched sports programme for the week, followed by the final match’s simulcast on Star Sports 1. The review and analysis show for the final too has figured in the top five list twice for simulcast on Star Sports First and Star Sports 1 Hindi, while the Sydney Test live broadcast on Sony Ten 3 gets the fourth position

A complete Test match and the highly-anticipated win for India at the SGC could have catapulted the cricket ratings for the series to a new high. But the rain in Sydney also put paid to the ratings for the week’s most-watched sports genre sports channel – Sony Ten 3. The cricket ratings over the week have taken close to a 50% hit. As there was only one Pro Kabaddi match, the final, for the week, Star Sports First too lost out grossly on the eye balls.
