Pro Kabaddi League and Star Sports First have made significant gains in the sports’ genre top channels and top programmes category as the Broadcast Audience Research Council has released the television viewership data for Week 52 (December 22-28, 2018).
Live broadcast of the Melbourne Test had relatively more favourable timings for the Indian audience. The action started at 7.30 am India time as against the early morning start for the previous two Tests. But overall cricket audience has taken a hit. The Test match action has failed to find a spot in the most watched top 5 shows for the week. PKL and the Adelaide Test in the previous week had split the top three and next two most watched sports genre shows positions respectively.
Between December 22 and 28, it is all Pro Kabaddi League on the BARC Top 5 sports programmes list. This is a major raid by kabaddi after having encountered a prolonged slump in the long season
