Star Sports 1 Hindi this week was poised for a major boost in TV ratings for the ICC World Cup 2019 broadcast in India. The washed out India-New Zealand match upset the calculations. With the ICC World Cup 2019 gaining momentum, India’s game against Australia has attracted more impressions than Men in Blue’s tournament opener against the Proteas.
The most watched sports genre show for the week – the India-Australia tie – has recorded almost 30% more impressions in the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) television audience ratings for Week 24 (June 8-14)on Star Sports 1 Hindi than India’s match against South Arica. The match has grabbed two more top 5 spots for Hindi language simulcast on DD Sports and English feed on Star Sports 2.
Australia-Pakistan and England-Bangladesh matches have grabbed the other two top five places, third and fifth respectively.

However, India’s washed out game against New Zealand on June 13 meant the leading sports genre channel for the week – Star Sports 1 Hindi – had to register a minor drop in the gross impressions for the week, which otherwise should have exceeded previous week’s numbers.
But for the Star Sports 1 Hindi, every other top 5 sports genre channel for the week has gained in ratings.
