La Liga giants FC Barcelona are all set to have their own television production company – Barca Studios – and in-house TV channel – Barca TV.
In a first of its kind move, FC Barcelona are launching an audio-visual production company to produce club’s content. The production hub of the club will also be mandated to look after the content for relaunched version of in-house television channel Barça TV. Barça Studios will be operational at the start of July, as the dedicated home of the Catalan club’s audiovisual content. The announced production hub of the club will oversee all its audiovisual content, including Barca TV.
Barca Studios will be responsible for the creation, production and distribution of all content for the club.
The club’s current contract with Movistar ends on 30th June, with the new production hub due to launch on 1st July.
“It is in the development phase, but it is a new strategic project of production, creation and distribution of all audiovisual related to the club, including Barça TV,” said Josep Veves, spokesman for Barcelona’s board of directors.
In 2018, Barcelona generated over one billion interactions on social media. It is the world’s number one club for YouTube, generating 271 million views during the past year – more than double its closest rival.
