BCCI Apex Council Meeting Updates : Domestic Cricket, Australia tour main point on agenda

The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) Apex Council meeting is slated for Saturday. The BCCI Apex Council members will meet via a virtual conference to discuss some important matters related to the Indian cricket. Be it the President BCCI, Secretary or other key officials, all are currently occupied with the ongoing Indian Premier League in UAE. Though Ganguly and Shah have now returned to India and will attend the virtual meeting on Saturday evening.

The future of India’s Domestic cricket season is the key matter listed on the agenda. Despite of all assurances to the state associations after the last Apex Council Meeting on July 17th, the Domestic cricket in India is yet to start anytime soon. No one even has an idea at this stage, will the earlier announced Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy scheduled for 19th November will be played or not ?

BCCI Apex Council Meeting : Where and How the England series should be hosted ?

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had recently declared that they would like to create BIO-BUBBLE to host England in India. The actual series was limited to 5 test matches. But as the white ball series comprising 3ODI’s and 3T20 games were cancelled in September this year, it was decided that those matches will also be scheduled during the visit of England next year.

But with the Covid-19 situation still not under control, now the issue is where and how to host England in India ? BCCI Apex Council will discuss the issue and may shift the series to UAE.
Another item on Apex Council agenda will be the India tour of Australia. Cricket Australia is yet to release the schedule of the series, nor they have managed permissions for relaxation in the quarantine norms. BCCI Apex council will be apprised about the situation and decisions on the tour, selection committee meeting and matter of no kit sponsor for Indian cricket will be discussed.

Other than this BCCI Apex Council will also discuss the ICC elections representation. The last date to file nominations for the ICC elections in October 18th, BCCI will decide their way forward on the matter.
