Six broadcast networks will beam the Indian Boxing Council promoted fight night as professional boxing gets a leg up during the weekend in India.

Impact TV Manipur will be the host broadcaster while government-owned Doordarshan will be the national broadcaster for the fight night scheduled for January 29.

The promoter of the fight night, Sporty Boxing, has adopted an innovative strategy to promote professional boxing among viewers. Doordarshan will provide the broadcast in English and Hindi language commentary. Its regional language strategy will see Punjabi language broadcast on PTC Punjabi and its music channels Chak De. Regional broadcaster, Dangal, in Uttar Pradesh will take the action to the heartland in the state.

“Our aim is to take pro boxing to every household in India and create a strong fan base for the sport”, said Sporty Boxing CEO Ashish Chadha.

According to a statement from IBC, Shiv Naresh has signed up with the event as the apparel partner while Swiss nutrition supplement brand Fast & Up will be the nutrition partner.

The fight night will see professional debut by Manipur’s Sarita Devi, young Pinky Jangra and veteran Som Bahadur Poon.

By associating with IBC, we believe that we would be contributing in nurturing Boxing at a new level”, Shiv Naresh Managing Director Shiv P Singh said.

“We are thrilled to be promoting the first Pro-Boxing Fight Night in Imphal which will feature one of Manipur’s favourite daughters”, Impact TV Chairman Yumnam Rupachandra said.
