Boxing promotor IOS Sports signs 5 World Championship medallist

Boxing promotions company IOS Sports has announced the signing of five World Championship medallist boxers –  Gaurav Bidhuri, Lovlina Borgohain, Jamuna Boro, Simranjit Kaur, and Manju Rani.

Further strengthening its 15-year-long relationship with the sport of boxing, IOS Sports & Entertainment has announced the signing of five World Championship medallists –d Lovlina Borgohain, Simranjit Kaur, Jamuna Boro, Manju Rani, and Gaurav Bidhuri to look after their endorsements and commercial interest.

IOS has had a long relationship with the country’s only Olympic medallist boxers Vijender Singh and MC Mary Kom and is also instrumental in promoting professional boxing into India.

Lovlina, Simranjit, Jamuna, Manju and Gaurav join the long list of elite athletes managed by the company including Boxing superstars MC Mary Kom and Vijender Singh, IAAF World U-20 Champion in 400 m and Asian Games 2018 Gold medallist Hima Das, Commonwealth Games 2018 gold medallists Manika Batra, Mirabai Chanu, Asian Games 2018 Gold medallist Jinson Johnson and Captain’s of Indian Men and Women’s Hockey Team, Manpreet Singh and Rani Rampal respectively, World No.7 Men’s double badminton pair Chirag Shetty and Satwik Rankireddy, IOS has stated in a Press release.

The 22-year-old tall and lanky boxer Lovlina Borgohain who hails from Golaghat district of Assam has recently won her second consecutive bronze medal at the World Women Boxing Championship 2019 in the welterweight category (69 kg). Earlier in August this year, she also won a gold medal at the Umakhanov Memorial Boxing Tournament. Lovlina who got her career’s biggest break in Commonwealth Games 2018 won her first World Championship medal in the same year and is also the bronze medallist of Asian Championship 2017. The talented boxer has now set her eyes on Tokyo 2020 Olympics and is training hard for the upcoming Qualifiers to be held in February next year.

Another boxer signed by IOS is a 24-year-old boxer from Punjab Simranjit Kaur who has been performing well at the international circuit in the light welterweight category (64 kg). Besides winning many medals at the national level competitions, Simranjit has won a bronze medal in World Boxing Championship 2018, silver medal in Asian Championships 2019 and a gold medal in the recent Presidents Cup in July earlier this year, she is currently preparing for Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2020.

Delhi born 26-year-old Gaurav Bidhuri is the male boxer signed by IOS, he

came into the limelight when he won a bronze medal at the 2017 World Boxing Championship in Hamburg, Germany. At the time he became only the 4th Indian male boxer to achieve this feat following the likes of Vijender Singh, Vikas Krishnan Yadav and Shiva Thapa. In addition, Gaurav has displayed fine performances this year by winning a silver and bronze medal at the Presidents Cup and Umakhanov Memorial Boxing Tournament respectively. Gaurav is currently preparing for the Olympic Qualifiers to be held next year.

The 22-year-old girl from Assam Jamuna Boro is another boxer signed by IOS, she competes in the Bantamweight category. Jamuna’s recent performances have been remarkable as she clinched a bronze medal in the World Boxing Championship 2019 and a gold medal in the 23rd Presidents Cup 2019, Indonesia prior to that.

The young girl from Haryana who recently came into the limelight is Manju Rani, who created history recently by becoming the first Indian female boxer in 18 years to enter the finals of World Boxing Championship in her debut appearance and won a silver medal for our country. The 20-year-old boxer from Haryana competes in the Light flyweight category.

“Our relationship with the boxing and country’s only Olympic medallists Vijender Singh and MC Mary Kom is very old so with an idea to further strengthen this relationship we thought signing these five young talented boxers Gaurav, Simranjit, Jamuna, Manju, and Lovlina. All five of them have performed well in the World Championship and have the potential of doing well at the Summer Olympics 2020. We have already signed a global sports & apparel endorsement deal for some of these boxers,” said IOS Managing Director Neerav Tomar.
