Indian apparel market will soon get another brand by a global cricket icon. Dwayne Bravo is all set to join the league of Virat Kohli, Harbhajan Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh with the launch of the ‘DJ Bravo 47’ in India.
The West Indies all-rounder has as strong a fan base in India as he enjoys back home in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean islands. It makes a business sense for the Chennai Super Kings star all-rounder to reach out his fans across the country.
Bravo, who considers India his second home, will launch his official merchandise under his brand name ‘DJ Bravo 47’. The brand is co-owned by Bravo and Singapore-based celebrity apparel company 3 Big Dogs.
Cornerstone Sports, Bravo’s commercial managers in India, will be involved in the marketing and distribution of the brand in India. The Mumbai-based sports and entertainment company also manages Kohli’s commercial interests.
“I have my biggest fan base in India. There are more people here who love me and I wanted to share something which is very close to my heart too,” Bravo has told Economic Times.
The brand would initially sell t-shirts for men, women and kids with price ranging from ₹1,900 to ₹ 2,200, ET has reported. The next phase six months later will see the extended range including track suits, hats and accessories.
DJ Bravo 47 is available in the US, Australia, South Africa, and the Caribbean market.
Bravo, targeting to sell 200,000 units in a year, will be performing in Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad to promote the brand.
Bravo in an interview with fellow Chennai Super Kings star Harbhajan – on his show Quick Heal Bhajji Blast – has expressed a desire to settle down in Chennai.
Harbhajan’s own sports apparel and accessories brand ‘Bhajji’ has caught the imagination of his fans, sportsperson and fitness lovers across the nation. The brand as part of its international expansion plans has opened the first Bhajji store in Canada.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Seven, Wrogn by Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh’s YWC are already established brands in India.
