There prevails an uncertainty on defending champions India’s participation in the ICC Champions League. India had won the coveted ‘mini world cup’ crown under Mahendra Singh Dhoni four years ago.
However,BCCI has skipped the April 25 deadline to announce the squad for the Champions Trophy. The Indian cricket administrators are peeved at ICC’s decision to amend the ICC Members Participation Agreement and slash India’s share in global cricket body’s central revenues.
A BCCI SGM in New Delhi on Monday will take a call on the matter.
OPPO had won the rights for Indian cricket team’s title sponsorship at a record Rs 1,079 crore for the five-year period from April 2017-March 2022. The brand pays Rs 4.61 crore of each bilateral series match involving India, and Rs 1.56 crore of India’s each appearance in an ICC event.
OPPO were also the sponsors for the Champions League T-20 in 2014. The event has now been scrapped.
