India’s best two women’s singles players, Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu have been given first round byes. Saina with a silver medal to her credit has been the best Indian performer at the World Championsips so far.
Srikanth, and Olympic medallists Saina and PV Sindhu are India’s best medal prospects for the Glasgow World Championships, slated from August 21 to 27. The mixed doubles team of Sikki Reddy and Pranav Jerry Chopra too stand a good chance.
Ajay Jayaram, B Sai Praneeth, doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, Arjun MR/Shlok Ramchandran and Meghana Jakkampudi/Poorvisha S Ram are the other India shuttlers in frey.
The BWF World Championships – featuring men’s and women’s singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles – is among the most prestigious events on the BWF annual calendar. It, however, does not take place during the Olympics year.
