India’s Ravinder has a date with history today. 22 year old Ravinder can achieve what no other Indian wrestler has ever achieved at the U23 World Wrestling Championships for the country. Never ever in the history of Indian wrestling anyone has won a Gold medal for the country at U23 World Championships. Ravinder stunned reigning European wrestling champion Arsen HARUTYUNYAN of Armenia in the Semi-finals to enter the finals of the U23 World’s in Budapest on the Day 2 of the championships.

2017 – The first edition of the UWW U23 World Wrestling Championships was held in Poland. Indian wrestlers won 3 silver medals in the inaugural edition. Bajrang Punia won Silver in 65kg, Vinod Kumar won Silver medal in 70kg freestyle category. Ritu Phogat became one and only women for India ever to win U23 World Championship medal by entering the finals of 48kg category where she lost to Even Demirhan of Turkey.
2018 – Unlike 2017, in the second edition in Bucharest, Romania Indian wrestlers could only muster one Silver medal courtesy Ravi Dhaiya in the 57kg.
