IPL 2021 Covid-19 – 5 DDCA Ground Staff Members Test positive: Covid-19 has hit the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 hard. After Covid-19 cases in Kolkata Knight Riders camp, InsideSport.co has reliably learnt that now five Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) ground staff members have tested Covid-19 positive. All of these ground staff members were on duty during Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match on Sunday. There are possibilities that the ground staff members came in contact with several players of the two teams during the match according to one of the senior DDCA official.

It’s confirmed that five DDCA ground staff tested Covid positive. They were on duty on the ground on the last IPL Match (RR vs SRH) at Kotla. Since they were on ground duty, there are chances that they must have come in contact with players and team staff,” a DDCA official in the know-how of the matter told InsideSport.

The five ground staff members have been home-quarantined. However, DDCA believes that more positive reports are possible in the coming days. “We are waiting for more reports. There were around 50-60 members on duty. The report will come in a day or two. There are chances of more positive reports,” he added.

This has also put dark clouds on the upcoming fixture between Mumbai Indians and SRH. The clash is scheduled for Tuesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

In Ahmedabad, meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders camp was rocked after Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested positive for coronavirus. “Varun Chakaravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were found to be positive in the third round of testing in the last four days. All other team members have tested negative for COVID -19,” the statement read.

The players have been isolated from the rest of the squad and the medical team is keeping a close watch on the health. Meanwhile, the KKR have now moved towards a daily testing routine to identify any other possible cases and treat them at the earliest.

The Medical Team is also determining the close and casual contacts of the two positive cases during the 48 hours prior to collection of the sample that returned the positive test results,” the statement added.
