CPL 2021: CSK’s Faf du Plessis in smashing form ahead of IPL 2021 Phase 2, slams another fifty: IPL 2021 phase 2 kickoffs next Sunday, September 19 with the clash between two of the most successful sides in the history of the league – Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Now, what comes as a piece of perfect good news for the Chennai Super Kings, amid all the tensions of what’s going on in Manchester and bringing out their key players who are stuck in the UK safely to Dubai, is the red-hot form of their opener Faf du Plessis.

CSK opener Faf du Plessis continues his smashing form in the CPL 2021 and slammed a quickfire 84 off 54 deliveries against Barbados Royal on Saturday. Put into bat, St Lucia Kings were reduced to 37/3 at the end of the powerplay when skipper Faf du Plessis took the charge and resurrected the innings with his crucial knock of 84 off 54 balls including five fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 155.56.

Faf du Plessis is currently leading his side, St Lucia Kings, in the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League. Du Plessis returned to form a couple of games earlier when he slammed a quickfire century against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots that turned out to be his maiden CPL hundred. Du Plessis finished off hitting unbeaten 120 off 60 deliveries in that game and was adjudged man of the match for helping his side register a massive 100 runs win.

Ahead of the CPL 2021, Faf du Plessis suffered from a concussion in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in June this year. The veteran South African batsman ended up injuring himself on the field during the match in the PSL 2021. He was taken to a hospital in Abu Dhabi soon after his tragic collision with Quetta Gladiators teammate Mohammad Hasnain during a game.

Faf Du Plessis was in sensational form during the first phase of IPL 2021. Chennai Super Kings opener had amassed 320 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 145+. He is expected to continue his stellar knocks in the remaining fixture of IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE.
