CPL 2021 GUY vs TKR: Shimron Hetmyer shines as Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Trinbago Knight Riders by 9 runs – Riding on the fifty by Shimron Hetmyer Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated Trinbago Knight Riders by nine runs in the opening fixture of CPL 2021 here the Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. GUY’s Romario Shepherd also took three wickets to help his team win the game.

Chasing 143, Trinbago Knight Riders got off to the worst possible start as Lendl Simmons was dismissed on 5. Sunil Narine went on to score 20 runs in 17 balls before falling against Imran Tahir in his first over. Only four TKR batsmen managed to score more than 20 runs in their innings. Akeal Hosein, Denesh Ramdin, Tim Seifert and Sunil Narine all got off to a great start but could not perform big.

For GUY, Romario Shepherd picked three while Imran Tahir and Odean Smith took two wickets. Mohammad Hafeez and Naveen-ul-Haq also chipped in with one wicket each.

Earlier, Shimron Hetmyer hit fifty for Guyana Amazon Warriors scored 142 runs in 20 overs against Trinbago Knight Riders on Thursday in the season opener of CPL 2021 here at the Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts.

After winning the toss TKR asked GUY to bat first in reply Nicholas Pooran’s side scored 142 runs in 20 overs. GUY got off to a decent start with 23 runs in first three overs. In search of a wicket captain, Kieron Pollard threw the ball to Sunil Narine and he delivered in his very first over. by removing Chandrapaul Hemraj.

Shimron Hetmyer was the top scorer for GUY as he scored 54 runs in 41 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes. Odean Smith who was promoted up the order scored 24 runs in 15 balls. He also smashed two fours and one six.

For TKR, Sunil Narine was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets to his name giving away just 17 runs while another spinner Akeal Hosein also picked up two wickets with 17 runs. Isuru Udana, Ravi Rampaul and Jayden Seales took one wicket each.

CPL 2021 GUY vs TKR Preview

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021 will kick off on August 26 with a clash between the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts.

The CPL opener promises to be an exciting thriller that will feature plenty of big T20 power-hitters including the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik, and Lendl Simmons.

A total of six teams – Barabaos Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Saint Lucia Kings, Trinbago Knight Riders – will participate in this tournament that will run across 21 days. The teams will face each other twice in the league round to book a spot in the playoffs. The final of the tournament will be played on September 15.

The match will start at 07:30 PM IST and will live stream on the FanCode app for Indian audiences.
