Team India’s victory over visiting Sri Lankans in the second Test at Nagpur was the most watched sports genre event on Indian television for the last week of November 2017. The Test match Hindi broadcast on Star Sports 1 Hindi with 3,051,000 impressions has been the most watched sports show in the Broadcast Audience Research Council data for week 49 (November 25 – December 1).
The second Test live broadcast with English commentary on Star Sports 1 is positioned second with 1,591,000 impressions as WWE on Sony Ten 1 continues to hold its strong position among the committed audience. The third and fourth shows for the week are the live telecast of WWE Raw 17 and the WWE RAW respectively.
The viewership for the Test match with India pushing the visitors against the wall at Nagpur has also enabled Star Sports 1 Hindi to retain its top position even as there is a decline in gross impressions. Sony Ten 1 goes down to the third position with a 50% decline in gross impressions. Star Sports 1 is in the No. 2 position for the week.
Cricket is poised for another strong week as data for the December 2 to December 8 period will have Virat Kohli’s total domination at Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla ground. Wrestling and Sony Ten 1 will be looking for their next big date on December 18 when Smackdown is scheduled to be aired.
