KXIP vs CSK IPL 2020 : Has MS Dhoni recovered ? Check CSK captain’s fitness update

In Dream11 IPL 2020 tonite, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on KingsXI Punjab (KXIP) in their fifth match of IPL 2020. The big question doing the rounds is, has MS Dhoni recovered completely from the fitness pangs of the last game ?

MS Dhoni has always been considered as one of the fittest cricketers in the world cricket despite being 39 years old but on Friday everyone saw a different Dhoni. Coughing, panting – struggling for breath. Such was Dhoni’s condition, that after running quick double every-time, he was gasping for breath. The epitome of fitness for the Indian cricket – was down on his knees. One of the greatest finisher and runner between the wickets was looking for excuses to take a break so that he can get grip on his breath.

Dhoni huffing and puffing wasn’t a pleasant sight neither for CSK’s dugout or for the legion of his fans. Is the CSK captain all good to play the match against KXIP ?

CSK vs KXIP : MS Dhoni’s FITNESS UPDATE

The news from CSK camp is that Dhoni though not feeling 100% will play the game against KXIP. According to sources in the CSK camp, Dhoni felt completely exhausted during the SRH game because of the kind of time he spent on the field during the match. After keeping for 20 overs, he was again out on the field, batting from 7th over onwards for CSK. The dry heat of UAE made the things worse for the CSK captain and he felt completely drained out after the game.

“I tried to get as much as time as possible. It is quite dry out here. So, the throat gets dry and you start to cough. When you have legal signs, you can take some time off.”, Dhoni had said after the game against SRH.

Dhoni has taken complete rest in last 24 hours and support staff is trying their best to make him battle ready for the game against KingsXI Punjab.

KXIP vs CSK Live : Will Chennai Super Kings make changes in their squad ?

“Long time back once we lost three in a row. We need to get a lot of things right”.

Before IPL 2020, it was in IPL 2014 that CSK for the first and the last time lost 3 matches in a row. If they lose another one, they will set an unwanted record of their worst run in IPL history. Can Dhoni’s aging team stop the rot against KXIP ? If not, it will be difficult for CSK to recover from the 4 consecutive loses in the tournament.

Will CSK many changes to their team for game against KXIP ? Though a case could be made for Imran Tahir’s inclusion to add an extra edge to their bowling, that leaves CSK considerably short on batting.

“Both Watson and Jadhav are looking for substantial contributions. Shane can light the fuse at any stage and Kedhar the same. It’s just our fourth game so it’s pretty early in our cycle of form, but there is no doubt there is pressure and they will be feeling it more than what I am talking about.” – CSK head coach Stephen Fleming

The team management still wants to back their old warhorses, this means it is unlikely team will make any change in the playing that took on SRH in the last game.
