CSK vs RR in IPL 2021: MS Dhoni leads Chennai Super Kings in 200th match, becomes 1st player to achieve feat in T20- After featuring in 200 matches for Chennai Super Kings, “Captain Cool” MS Dhoni made his 200th appearance for CSK as the skipper when his side faced Rajasthan Royals in the 12th match of the IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. In the process, he became the only cricketer in the IPL to achieve the feat.

IPL 2021: In his 12th year with Chennai Super Kings, Thala, MS Dhoni has led the franchise to three IPL titles and two Champions League T20 trophies. In IPL, Dhoni has played 207 matches and led CSK in 177 matches including the match on Monday. The other 23 matches have been in now-defunct Champions League T20. Other than Dhoni, Suresh Raina has led CSK in 5 matches.

In IPL, only five times, he has missed leading CSK with Suresh Raina captaining the side as he was out with an injury. Furthermore, Dhoni has led Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2016-17 before the franchise took away the role from him. As for playing for CSK, Dhoni has appeared in 201 matches while playing 30 matches for Rising Pune Supergiant between 2016 and 2017.

Dhoni also has an impressive win-ratio as a captain. In 191 matches in the IPL, he has led the team to 111 wins and 78 losses with a winning ratio of 58.73, only behind Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai Indians captain has led the franchise in 119 matches, winning 70 of them.

Interestingly, Dhoni completed his 200-match milestone as a player for Chennai Super Kings in the match against Punjab Kings. After the match, Dhoni told the broadcaster that the feat made him feel old.

“Makes me feel very old and it has been a very long journey. It started in 2008 – played in SA, Dubai, and back home. Never thought Mumbai would be our home. In 2011, the last time that we were happy with the Chennai wicket. Before that, there was spin, but it also helped fast bowlers,” Dhoni told host broadcaster Star Sports after the match.

On Sunday, MS Dhoni will look to better his winning percentage when CSK face Rajasthan Royals. Dhoni lost the toss and was asked to bat first on the tricky Wankhede pitch.

“We’re going with the same team. It’s part of the game [Ruturaj form] I think he just needs to assess and he’s doing okay. I feel last year would have taught him a lot about phases where you’re not scoring a lot of runs when you want to. I think he’s well equipped to deal with that. The surface looks a bit tacky to start, so I think it’ll be important to assess and we’ll have to consider dew. But if there’s no dew we don’t really need to look for a 200-type total,” MS Dhoni said.
