Dalmia Cement, BYJU’s, NTPC ‘National Supporters’ for U-17 WC

FIFA has signed Dalmia Cement, BYJU’s and NTPC as National Supporters for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, starting in India from Friday, October 6.

Energy conglomerate NTPC Limited, education technology provider BYJU’s and cement major Dalmia Cement Bharat Ltd have been roped in as sponsors. Their signings take the National Supporters tally for the first FIFA World Cup event in India to six. Bank of Baroda, Coal India Limited and Hero MotoCorp are the other three Indian brands on board to back the World Cup.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the World Cup and President of the All India Football Federation Praful Patel has welcomed the new sponsors on board.

“Dalmia has shown its commitment to the future of Indian youth with its partnership with the FIFA U-17 World Cup. We welcome them and salute their commitment.”

Dalmia Cement Mahendra Singhi said: “Dalmia is extremely delighted to be a part of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, the first FIFA tournament to be held in India. The event will help to enhance the future of Indian football. As a National Supporter of the event, it is a great opportunity for Dalmia to further our group’s vision of nurturing aspirations of young people in the country and help realise their true potential. This relationship is also important to us as we want to create pride among all stakeholders.”

FIFA Director of Marketing Services Jean-François Pathy commented: “FIFA is delighted to join forces with Dalmia and to see a leading company embracing the full potential of football in India. Dalmia’s commitment to the FIFA U-17 World Cup is a positive sign for young footballers and for the strategic development of the sport in the country.”

On NTPC coming on board, AIFF president Praful Patel, who is also the chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) said: “The support that we are getting from the Indian industry is truly heartening. NTPC has shown its commitment to building the nation through sport.”

FIFA Director of Marketing Services Jean-François Pathy said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have such a prestigious firm as NTPC joining our sponsorship programme for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. NTPC’s commitment and initiatives will help the ongoing development of football in India and participation of young people in the sport.”

Twenty three foreign qualifiers join hosts India for the most prestigious football event in India’s sporting history. The FIFA Under-17 World Cup finals, kicking off on Friday will be played across six India cities – Delhi, Guwahati, Navi Mumbai, Kolkata, Goa and Kochi.
