An endorsement deal that should have ended in 2012 has become a headache for MS Dhoni.
According to Dhoni’s counsel, Maxx Mobilink continued using Dhoni’s name though the contract had ended in December 2012.
The two sides must abide by its earlier order, the court has said. According to a report by The Times of India, Dhoni’s counsel is seeking contempt proceedings against Maxx Mobilink Chairman Ajjay Agarwal.
Maxx Mobilink counsel Sanjeev Bhandari claimed that the company had never misused Dhoni’s name for commercial gains.
The court had asked Maxx Mobilink to detail steps taken to remove Dhoni’s name from its social media pages. Dhoni wants his name and photographs removed from the website and Facebook pages of the company.
Dhoni and Rhiti Sports filed the petition before the court nearly three years ago.
Not to mention, Dhoni wants an order to seize all the products using his name and images.
Both sides have to comply with the court orders by July 28, the next date of hearing.
