Mahendra Singh Dhoni to sue Amprapali group over ₹150 cr dues - InsideSport

Rhiti Sports, the firm that manages commercial interests of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has moved four different applications against real estate firm Amrapali for recovery of dues amounting to ₹150 crore.

Three applications moved by Rhiti Sports lawyer, Ms Roohina Dua, were heard by Hon’ble Justice Mr Vibhu Bakhru on March 12. The Hon’ble court while allowing IA No. 3364/2018 “subject to all exceptions”, has directed to issue notices to the respondents in ARB.P. Nos 189/2018, 190/2018 and 191/2018. The case will next come up for hearing on August 1, 2018.

Rhiti Sports another case against Amarapali, OMP 73/2018 is listed for hearing on April 17, Tuesday. Rhiti’s counsel Ms Roohina Dua on February 9 had “prayed for time to file certain documents on record. At her request, the case was listed for March 9, 2017. However, the petitioner on March 9 had circulated a request for adjournment. Hon’ble Justice Mr Navin Chawla while accepting the request had listed the case for April 17.

Rhiti Sports reportedly is seeking a directive against Amrapali Group for the payment of ₹150 crore. The former India captain has professionally served the realtor as a brand ambassador of the firm for the past 6-7 years.

It is alleged that that Amrapali Group hasn’t paid Dhoni for endorsing the real estate brand as a celebrity ambassador.

Rhiti Sports also manages other cricket stars like KL Rahul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and South African Francois Du Plessis.

“They haven’t given us money for branding and marketing activities,” financial daily Economic Times has quoted Rhiti Sports managing director Arun Pandey as saying. He had further added that the realty firm owes close to ₹200 crore to the sports management company.

Dhoni had resigned as the Amrapali Group brand ambassador in April 2016 after being trolled on social media by house buyers of the Amrapali housing project as they were angry over the delay in completion of the projects. The house buyers had tagged Dhoni in their tweets, asking him to either dissociate himself from the builder or make sure that the pending work is completed.
