Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 – 5 IPL stars who will play on January 16: Several IPL stars are participating in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which got underway on January 10. The domestic tournament is a golden opportunity for the players to prove their mettle ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, which is just 3 months away.
Having said that, let’s take a look at a few IPL players who will take the field on January 16:
Ishan Kishan (Jharkhand/ Mumbai Indians)
Ishan Kishan, the skipper of the Jharkhand team, will be in action on Saturday against Odisha. Jharkhand has started poorly in the tournament, losing two out of three matches they have played so far. Kishan, who represents the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, has failed to fire with the bat with scores of 9, 22 and 24.
Dinesh Karthik (Tamil Nadu/ Kolkata Knight Riders)
KKR’s Dinesh Karthik will lead his Tamil Nadu side against Hyderabad on January 16 in an Elite Group B encounter. It has been a superb start to the campaign for Tamil Nadu as they sit at the top of the points table with three wins out of three. Karthik has had the opportunity to bat in only once so far against Jharkhand. He performed fairly in that match by scoring a valuable 46 runs for his team.
Riyan Parag (Assam/ Rajasthan Royals)
It will be a huge challenge for Riyan Parag and his Assam side when they take on Bengal on Saturday, January 16. While Assam has lost two out of their three matches, Bengal has won all three they have played. However, Riyan Parag has performed brilliantly in the tournament so far with scores of 51*, 24 and 67.
Sreevats Goswami (Bengal/ Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Sreevats Goswami’s Bengal will take on Assam in an Elite Group B clash on Saturday. It is to be noted that Bengal has won all three of their matches against Odisha, Jharkhand and Hyderabad. However, his unbeaten 69 of 48 balls against Hyderabad guided his team to a splendid victory at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Murugan Ashwin (Tamil Nadu/ Kings XI Punjab)
Murugan Ashwin will be in action as Tamil Nadu takes on Hyderabad on January 16. The 30-year-old has been impressive with the ball picking up 6 wickets in 3 matches.
