Dream11 has emerged as India’s leading sports brand in advertisement spent, only behind Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Amazon Online India as per the latest Pitch Madison Advertising Report 2020, which has listed India’s top 50 advertisers.
The fantasy sports platform has on its maiden top ten appearance in the elite club has taken the industry by surprise by grabbing one of the elite three positions. Dream11 states the report has spent between ₹ 700-800 crore during the ratings period.
“The new kid on the block is fantasy sports platform Dream11, a cricket-based digital game, ranked No. 3. The other new players (compared to 2018 list) are Oppo, Byju’s, Swiggy, BJP, MRF, Havells and Kia Motors. Three out of the Top 10 advertisers are from the FMCG sector,” states the report.
The Top 50 advertisers account for 33% (last year, it was 35%) of the Adex. Interestingly, the Top 10 advertisers continue to account for as much as 14% (down from 16% last year) of Adex and contribute to 43% (last year, it was 46%) of the Top 50 list. By the time you reach rank 50, you are down from ₹3,500 crore to ₹100 crore, states an e4m report.
Founded in 2008 by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth, Dream 11 is a platform for sports games with over 7 crore users playing fantasy cricket, football, kabaddi, basketball and Hockey. In 2018 Dream 11 signed MS Dhoni as a brand ambassador for the app and is also one of the official partners for the IPL.
HUL continues to lead the pack with spends of about ₹ 3,400 crore followed by Amazon, Dream11, Reliance, Maruti, P&G, Vivo, Samsung, Oppo and Vini to make up our Top 10 list.
