DSport, the new sports channel from Discovery Communications will beam the Chinese Super League (CSL) for the Indian market.
RC Venkateish, DSport head, confirmed that DSport has acquired the rights. The channel plans to start the broadcast from March 1, according to SportsPro.
DSport will beam nearly 10 hours of live programming every day, according to plans. It has announced that it wants to air over 4000 hours of live programming through the year.
It has secured Indian rights to cycling’s Tour de France and global horse racing’s Dubai World Cup and Australia’s Melbourne Cup. Among other sport which will be seen on the channel with live programming are golf, rugby, motorsport, cycling and horse racing.
Sport broadcasting in India will see a fierce battle between Sony and Star for acquiring the rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL). As the biggest sports league in India, nearly 350 million people watched IPL during 2016.
