Ed Sheeran to Ipswich Town: Popular singer Ed Sheeran features in League One club Ipswich Town’s official squad for 2021-22 campaign; Check details– Ed Sheeran has had guest appearances in many popular TV shows including Game of Thrones but now, the pop singer has donned England’s League One side Ipswich Town’s jersey. In fact, he has even been included in the official team ahead of the upcoming season.

The Pop Star who is also a massive fan of the League One club was included in the official team for ahead of their next campaign. This astonishing act was done by the club as a  light-hearted gesture and a token of appreciation for the the singer.

The 30-year-old is a not only a fan of Ipswich town and also the teams shirt sponsor. He has always shown his affection for the League One side and is set to have the No.17 shirt reserved for him in the Ipswich’s squad list for the 2021-22 season.

Despite being named in the official team squad, Ed Sheeran is not expected to feature on the pitch for the League One outfit this season. Team head coach Paul Cook will not be fielding the musician as the clubs’ decision to involve the singer in the official team squad was a gig and done as move for fun.

Speaking with the clubs official media channels on about his inclusion in the clubs’ official team squad, Sheeran said: “When Ipswich told me I thought they were joking but I love the idea. I think this is going be a great season and I’m honoured to be a part of it.

He went on to add, “I just hope this squad number is only ceremonial because I want to see us promoted and that’s not going to happen if I’m playing.”

Ipswich Town last featured in the Premier League back in 2002. They have continued to struggle and get back in the top flight English football. After playing in the Championship, Ipswich Town found themselves being relegated to the third tier of English football. The club is yet to and make a serious promotion challenge and get out of League One in order to play in the Championship.
