ENG vs PAK 3rd Test Day 3: Shoaib Akhtar calls Pakistan a ‘club team’; lashes out at Azhar Ali’s captaincy

Former Pakistan pacer and cricket pundit Shoaib Akhtar lashed out at skipper Azhar Ali’s captaincy after yet another dismal show with the ball and regular fall of wickets put Pakistan on the backfoot versus England in Southampton.

Reacting to his national side’s dismal show in the ongoing third Test, the ex-Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar once again lashed out at Azhar Ali & Co. for their lack of aggression and ordinary show in the final Test so far.

He stated, “It is a very embarrassing performance from Pakistan, I was very hopeful of our side performing well in the series. Pakistan is looking like a club team. Crawley was set for scoring 300 but fortunately, he was dismissed,” concluded the 44-year-old former pacer.

After a heartbreaking loss in the series opener, in Manchester, Pakistan have their task cut-out versus England in the third and final Test in Southampton. At the end of Day Two, the visitors found themselves in a precarious situation; 24 for 3 after England declared for a mammoth 583 for 8.

“I have seen the attitude of aggressive bowlers, they have the intent of taking wickets. I do not know what is being taught to the current bowlers of Pakistan. There is no method, Naseem Shah keeps on bowling at just one area, there are no slower balls or bouncers,” Akhtar said on his Youtube channel.  “I don’t know why there is a lack of aggression, we are not net bowlers, we are playing Test matches,” he added.

Akhtar further opined, “Our players do not understand that when you do not have the right mindset, you would not succeed. Pakistan looked like a very ordinary team, the way we are playing, it is looking like we will face our biggest defeat on foreign soil since 2006.”
