ENG W vs IND W ODI: Top 5 records that Shafali Verma can break on her ODI debut – Indian women’s cricket team’s latest batting sensation Shafali Verma took the world cricket by storm with impressive batting including on her Test debut. Now that she is set for her ODI debut against England on Sunday, she is eying multiple records if she can put up another swashbuckling performance. Mithali Raj & Co will play three ODIs starting June 27.

At 17, Shafali Verma is already a multiple record-holder. The teenage sensation has bossed over renowned bowlers in tough situations including the one-off Test against England in Bristol. The right-hand batter impressed everyone with her shots in her debut Test where she missed out on a well deserved century in the first innings as she was dismissed on 96. She played a crucial knock of 63 in the second innings which helped India draw the match.

After her heroics in the longest format of the game, Shafali is all set to make her ODI debut against England in the first ODI of the series. Shafali will be seen opening the batting with Smirti Mandhana.

Fastest century in Women’s ODI

New Zealand’s Sophie Devine holds the record for the fastest century in Women’s ODI cricket. She scored a ton in just 61 balls against Ireland at The Vineyard, Dublin, Ireland in 2018. Her record will be in serious danger when Verma comes out to bat against England in the first test.

Highest score by an Indian woman in ODI

Deepti Sharma holds the record for the highest score in ODI by an Indian woman. She scored 188 runs against Ireland in May 2017 at Potchefstroom. Deepti’s blistering innings was hit at a strike rate of 117.50 and included 27 fours and two sixes. If Shaifali Verma gets going then she has the ability to break this record as well.

Third youngest to score century on debut in Women’s ODI

Shafali is just 17 years and 149 days old. She has a clear shot at becoming the third youngest to score a century on debut in Women’s ODI. Earlier, India veteran Mithali Raj and Reshma Gandhi had scored a century on debut. She will be the third youngest and sixth overall to score a ton on debut. Since 2014 no other batter has scored a century on ODI debut in women’s cricket.

Second-youngest Indian to score a century on debut

Mithali Raj scored a century on her debut against Ireland in 1999. She scored 114 runs and helped her team win by 161 runs. Raj was also 17 years old when she scored a century on debut. Now Shafali has a chance to become the second-youngest Indian women to score a century on debut in ODI.

Fastest half-century in women’s ODI

Shafali Verma will be opening the batting for India and as she is a naturally aggressive player she will aim to take the advantage of the powerplay to put England bowlers under pressure. She missed out on few records in her Test debut and will aim to break a few in ODI debut.
