  • Chasing 155 on a dry, turning pitch, England needed 61 from nine overs with eight wickets in hand after Jason Roy’s 64.
  • However, with Pakistan’s spinners applying a vice-like grip and Dawid Malan struggling to score freely, the equation went out to 39 from four overs before captain Eoin Morgan regained control.
  • In a dramatic penultimate over, Malan was bowled by Mohammad Hafeez, only for Liam Livingstone to hit his first ball for six then be caught off his next, leaving six required off the final over.
  • Although Morgan holed out with four needed, Chris Jordan got England over the line with two balls to spare.

Earlier a dominating batting display from Jason Roy has helped England defeat Pakistan in one of the most exciting finishes. The match went to the last over but Chris Jordan kept his cool to help England win the game by 3 wickets. Roy, in particular, slammed 64 runs off just 36 deliveries which included 12 fours and a six. Mohd Hafeez brought Pakistan back into the game after the 15th over but couldn’t save his team from a back-to-back series loss.

If Roy was England’s star cast in batting, Adil Rashid starred with ball. An absolute genius from Adil Rashid restricted Pakistan to 154/6 in their allotted 20 overs. He took 4 wickets for just 35 runs in the series decider.

Pakistan opener Mohd Rizwan also shined with the bat, slamming unbeaten 76 runs off just 57 balls.

Notably, Pakistan have so far toured England seven times for the T20I series. They could only win two one-off matches- the first came way back in 2006 while the second came in 2016. In 2020, Pakistan drew the series 1-1 against England. A win in the series-decider will give Pakistan a golden chance to clinch their first-ever T20I series win against England. The hosts, on the other hand, will be hoping to win their second T20I series against Pakistan at home ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
