We’re back
Play is about to resume after that long rain delay, which brought about an early tea and then prevened the evening session from starting until one hour and 45 minutes after the scheduled time. That was nearly three hours lost in total.

A tricky period for the Pakistan batsmen to negotiate. By the same token, England could do with a wicket to stop this partnerhip between Babar Azam and Shan Masood, currently unbroken on 78, from re-establishing.

Jofra Archer will resume his over, which was interrupted after one ball.

Good news – play will restart at Emirates Old Trafford in 10 minutes time. 22.5 overs remain in the day.

One of the fiercest rivalries in Test cricket, England vs Pakistan is billed to be a mouthwatering clash. Who will dominate the battle this time around?

Hello everyone and welcome to the live coverage of the 1st Test Day 1 between England vs Pakistan.

England vs Pakistan 1st Test Day 1 Live

England is set to have a busy summer as the Pakistan cricket team will be the third team touring England since the resumption of cricket post-COVID-19. After West Indies and Ireland played a single series of the Test and ODI formats respectively, England vs Pakistan 2020 will be the first encounter featuring two formats, Tests and T20Is.

The subcontinent side has reached England a month before the series begins and they have undergone the necessary quarantine and safety measures before beginning with their training and practice matches. The side looks ready to take on England at home in a 3-Test and 3-T20I series.

Pakistan are expected to maintain a proud record against England in the coming weeks as the sides contest three Tests before playing as many T20 internationals. The Men in Green have played six tours in their last two tours of England with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses.

Not since 2010 have England won a Test series against Pakistan, who won the series in the UAE in 2011/12 and 2015/16 while the last two series in England have ended drawn, in 2016 and 2018.
