Euro 2020: From Romelu Lukaku to Cristiano Ronaldo, tributes pour in for Christian Eriksen from all over the world as star survives scare

Euro 2020: The world came to a halt as Christian Eriksen collapsed on the ground during Denmark’s Euro 2020 game against Finland. The Inter Milan playmaker suddenly fell at the stroke of halftime and medical staffs had to intervene as he was given CPR on the pitch with the match suspended for over 2 hours. From Inter teammate Romelu Lukaku to Cristiano Ronaldo, tributes poured in from all over the world as he battle for life following a cardiac arrest.

Later both Denmark Football Association and UEFA released statements stating the player is conscious and is recuperating in the hospital. All the people present in the stadium and around the globe heaved a sigh of relief. Tributes poured in from all the players and celebrities praying for Eriksen’s good health.

Romelu Lukaku celebrated his goal as he ran down to the television camera and said, “Eriksen, I Love You.” He later posted a heartfelt message for his Inter teammate. Romelu Lukaku celebrated his goal for Belgium’s match against Russia dedicating them to Christian Eriksen.

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo too wished for Eriksen’s speedy recovery. He posted on Instagram, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Christian Eriksen and his family. The world of football stands together hoping for good news. I’m counting on finding you soon back on the pitch, Chris! Stay strong!”

Players from all around the world posted goodwill messages for the Danish skipper.

Eriksen’s another fellow clubmate Achraf Hakimi tweeted, “Eriksen Please” while Inter Milan wrote on their official Twitter handle, “Forza Chris, all of our thoughts are with you!”

His former club Tottenham Hotspur said, “All of our thoughts are with Christian Eriksen and his family.”

Manchester United posted, “We are encouraged by the latest updates regarding Christian Eriksen and will continue to keep him & his loved ones in our thoughts. We would also like to express our profound admiration for the swift response of those in Copenhagen, who worked in such desperate circumstances.”

Barcelona posted, “Stay strong, Eriksen.”
