Euro 2020: Top five scorers, Cristiano Ronaldo still at the top with five goals – The round of 16 of the Euro 2020 has just rounded up. Denmark, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, England, Belgium and Czech Republic will be vying for spots in the semifinals. Let’s have a look at the top 5 scorers of the tournament so far.
Euro 2020: Top five scorers – Cristiano Ronaldo:
Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence on Portugal has been monumental. The Juventus forward led his team to the round of 16 but couldn’t get past the challenge of Belgium as they had to end their Euro 2020 journey on a bitter note.
Despite Ronaldo’s early exit from the tournament he is leading the charts of top scorers with 5 goals and 1 assist. It remains to be seen whether he gets the golden boot or any other player leapfrogs him to the top spot.
Euro 2020: Top five scorers – Patrik Schick:
Something that happens probably once in a decade, Czech Republic’s Patrick Schick recreated that in one of the biggest stages of football. When he found Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall off his line, the Bayer Leverkusen forward took a shot from the half-line as the ball flew into Scotland’s goal, leaving everyone bamboozled.
The Bayer Leverkusen star has bagged four goals so far and could be handed the golden boot if the Czechs manage to lengthen their stay.
Euro 2020: Top five scorers – Karim Benzema:
Cristiano Ronaldo’s one time club mate also had his name inked on this list. Karim Benzema had a rather quiet start to the Euro 2020 campaign as he failed to find the back of the net in the first two matches.
But he lived to the expectations as he netted a brace in the following two games to the score box ticking for his side.
Euro 2020: Top five scorers – Emil Forsberg:
Sweden suffered a heartbreak as they conceded a goal at the last moment of the extra time at the hand of Ukraine. Emil Forsberg was again on target as he scored the equaliser for the Swedish team.
The RB Leipzig winger now has four goals in his tally and has finished the campaign on a high.
Euro 2020: Top five scorers – Robert Lewandowski:
Robert Lewandowski bid good bye to the European Championship having netted three goals in the group stages. Poland failed to register a single win and as a result, they didn’t qualify for the round of 16.
