“Even after East Bengal’s inclusion, ISL can have more teams from next season,” says Kushal Dass

The ISL 2020 season, in an unprecedented move might see Indian football heavyweights East Bengal take part in the upcoming season, after the team found a new sponsor in Shree Cements.

In the interim, East Bengal have already downloaded the ITB documents, that were available online on Monday and Tuesday.

Speaking on the chances of new entrants into the ISL, AIFF General Secretary Kushal Dass in an exclusive chat with Insidesport said, “In ISL 2020, we have spot for just one team, however from the next season we will be accepting bids from other teams as well and we can have a bigger ISL.”

“For now, we’ll have to wait till 14th September for East Bengal to submit the documents. If they qualify for the tender, and everything goes positive, they will play this season.”

Sources said East Bengal would definitely submit the papers through e-mail before the deadline of September 14, while a UK firm, which have also shown interest will have too little time to put everything together and make a definite bid.

The bid for the new season (ISL 2020) must be submitted by September 14 via e-mail with the hard copy needing to reach the Mumbai office of FSDL by September 17.
