Social media giant Facebook was among the first-timers at the advertiser’s biggest day – the Super Bowl 2020 where a single 30-second commercial spot during the live broadcast on Fox Sports went for up to $5.6million (approximately ₹ 40 core).
To put things in perspective, the cost of two Super Bowl spots could get a brand an Associate Sponsorship package on Star Sports for the entire Indian Premier League 2020 season, or maybe a Co-Presenting Partner package for the value of three Super Bowl spots.
Among more than 45 advertisers, who showcased their products, brands and campaigns during the LIVE broadcast of the Super Bowl were the US presidential election candidates Donald Trump and Michael Bloomberg. The duo aired their political campaigns during the game. Fox Sports, according to Drum.com which has published a detailed list of Super Bowl advertisers, had said that the two politicians’ campaign videos would be isolate and not published with other commercials.
The social media giant Facebook made its Super Bowl debut with a couple of stars who share ‘rock’ in their names – Sylvester ‘Rocky’ Stallone and Chris Rock. Facebook’s Super Bowl campaign highlighted Facebook Group members and celebrated the power of people coming together through shared interests and experiences, to drive home the message that “whatever you ‘rock’, there is a Facebook Group for you.”

The list of advertisers this year in the category of aerated and flavoured, bottled water brands included, US unsweetened flavoured water manufacturer and a first timer Hint Water, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, MTN Dew and the Israel-based carbonated drink company Soda Stream.;
Presidente (Anheuser-Busch), Bud Light and Bud Light Seltzer beer manufacturer AB InBev, a low carb & low calorie light beer Discover Michelob ULTRA, beverage brand Molson Coors marked the presence of multinational beer brands.
The automobile sector representation had South Korean luxury car brand Genesis, Hyundai, Audi, Kia, Porsche, Toyota and General Motors.
P&G in a first presented a medley of its seven products Bounty, Mr Clean, Febreze, Olay, Charmin, Head & Shoulders and Old Spice in a single commercial.
Pringles, the potato chips maker; Avocados From Mexico, the creamy fruit brand; US snack food company Planters, Frito-Lay (Doritos, Cheetos), the food and condiment brand Heinz, Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt, Hershey/Reese’s peanut butter and chocolate candy brand, Sabra Hummus, and Snickers candy bar were the processed food product commercials seen during the live broadcast of the Super Bowl 2020.
US tax preparation software TurboTax, Discover Credit card brand, mutual life insurer New York Life, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, Dignity Health were the brands from the insurance and finance sector.
Walmart, also made its Super Bowl debut this year. Short form mobile video platform Quibi, Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts, Cross-platform premium password manager and digital wallet application Dashlane, Saucony running shoes and gear, Amazon Alexa, online home finance and mortgage service Rocket Mortgage, Rocket Mortgage, Verizon Communications, Amazon Prime Video, the maker of floor mats and other auto interior products WeatherTech, Zenni Optical and US skin care brand Olay were the other key brands to invest their marketing budgets on the Super Bowl 2020.
Fox Sports had earlier confirmed that the entire inventory was sold out as early as in November, over two months before the match that attracts highest sponsorship price tag for a sport event.
