FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Pedri, Thiago dropped as Enrique names Spains’ 23-man-squad, check out- La Roja national team head coach Luis Enrique made two major omissions from the Spanish squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Thursday. The former FC Barcelona manager opted against calling up Thiago Alcantara and Pedri for the three qualifications games in September.

Just like last time, no Real Madrid players have been called up to in the national team that sees seven changes made from the team that participated in Euro 2020.

West Ham United’s Pablo Fornals and Villarreals star Raul Albiol are recalled to the national team while Braga striker Abel Ruiz and Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler were called up for the first time by Luis Enrique.

Apart from Thiago and Pedri, the Spanish tactician has also decided to rest Dani Olmo and Mikel Oyarzabal from national duty. The duo was part of the La Roja team that played in the semi-finals of Euro 2020 which saw them lose to Italy on penalties.
