Tata Steel has opted to make the man with a ‘steel body’ the brand ambassador for its Indian Super League team.
TATA group has announced the appointment of Bollywood film star Akshay Kumar, as the brand ambassador of their team for the upcoming ISL season 4. The Tata-Akshsay association is not new. The Bollywood super star has earlier been a Tata Motors’ brand ambassador.
Akshay’s association with football also dates back to 2013, when he along with Sonakshi Sinha was granted an honorary life membership of the East Bengal football club.
Akshay’s presence will further boost the brand value of the franchisee and ISL. He has also been the ‘brand partner’ of Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League inaugural season – 2009.
ISL season 4 will feature 10-teams. Tata and JSW are the new entrants to the hitherto eight-team league. The league in its fourth edition will witness an expanded five-month season.
Earlier this month, Football Sports Development Limited – the IMG- Reliance & Star India joint venture – has announced the addition of two of India’s largest conglomerates Tata Steel Ltd. – a US$ 18.12 billion company and subsidiary of Tata Group (US$ 103.51 billion 2015-16) and Jindal South West (JSW) Group – US$ 9 billion corporate into the Indian Super League.
